This step encourages and teaches children to judge the value of information/material against the given purpose.
Children successfully operating within this step are able to present and defend their judgement/opinion and provide evidence to support their views against a set criteria.

At this level of thinking the teacher needs to encourage students to use a critical lens to look at the information given. Fostering a critical thought process will help children to form their own judgements or opinions and to be able to support (back up) these with evidence.
Teachers do this through questioning and by remembering that evaluating questions have no one right answer. |
